Perspectives on development.

Practical observations on the questions we see across ventures, investment and international innovation.

Investment readiness

What investors are really trying to understand

Being investment-ready is not the same as having a good pitch deck.

Investors are trying to understand whether a company has a credible opportunity, enough evidence to support its claims, and a team capable of turning the opportunity into a valuable business.

For deep-tech and climate-tech companies, this often means going beyond the technology. Market size, customer validation, business model, capital requirements, competitive advantage and the path to scale all matter.

A strong investment case connects these elements into one coherent story.

Commercialization

When great technology is not yet a great business

A technical breakthrough can create an opportunity, but it does not automatically create a market.

Commercialization requires answering a different set of questions: Who has the problem? How important is it? Who will pay to solve it? What needs to be true for adoption to happen? And what is the most credible route from early customers to a scalable business?

For deep-tech companies in particular, the journey from technology to market can be long and capital-intensive. Getting the commercial logic right early can make a significant difference.

Innovation ecosystems

Connections are only valuable when they lead somewhere

International innovation programmes often focus on bringing the right people and organisations together. But a meeting, delegation or introduction is not an outcome in itself.

The real value comes when connections lead to something concrete: a commercial partnership, a pilot, an investment conversation, a market opportunity or a relationship that continues beyond the programme.

Strong ecosystems are built around meaningful objectives, relevant participants and clear follow-through.
